La Boule Noire et Persona Grata
Melenas is a garage fuzz pop reverbcore band from Pamplona, Spain, who will make fans of The Feelies, Stereolab and the classic jangle pop of C86 fall in love with their shimmering guitars, sweet melodies and driving rhythms. They also add a touch of soft, sunny psychology to their sound. Bright melodies, fresh bass lines, acid keys and a Lindy Morrison-style drumming style are embellished with fuzz and phasers and surrounded by heavenly vocal harmonies.
After touring their first two albums (released on the American Trouble In Mind label) all over the world, with gigs at Primavera Sound, SXSW (twice), Eurosonic, Benicassim, all over the UK and France and even at New York Fashion Week (where they performed on the Ulla Johnson catwalk), in 2021 they won the MME Awards at the Eurosonic festival, an award that had already been won by Rosalia, Hinds, Fontaines DC or Dua Lipa.
In 2021, they released their famous cover of Grauzone’s classic Eisbaer, and in 2023, they were bursting with energy as they prepared to release their long-awaited third album, Ahora, due out in the autumn via Trouble In Mind Records and Mushroom Pillow.
