Aboukir, aka Ralph Maruani, is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. He began his musical training at the age of 3 on the piano, before switching to guitar and then bass.
After a decade honing his production skills under his electronic alter ego Flabaire, Ralph returned to his rock roots with the launch of the Aboukir project, a one-man-band that culminated in the release of a debut album in 2021. Inspired by the likes of Pink Floyd, David Crosby and Khruangbin, ‘Digital Introversion’ pays homage to the psychedelia of the 60s and 70s, winning over critics: “We’ve been waiting for a record to push us to raise our heads and believe in the music of the 21st century” (Rock Made in France).
After defending their second album ‘Change’ to a sold-out Popup!, Aboukir will be back at La Boule Noire in May 2024!
