ALEXIS MURATTI

Alexis Muratti, a self-taught artist and newcomer to the French music scene, grew up in Toulouse in a family filled with melodies and choruses – those of Marc Lavoine for his father, Julien Clerc for his mother, and Michel Legrando or Aaron amongst his siblings. Alexis began writing as a teenager but initially chose to pursue a career in rap. From that point on, a certain sense of rhythm and a knack for finding just the right word would remain with him forever. He later moved to Barcelona and then to Paris, arriving in Montmartre in 2017. His breakthrough came when he discovered Serge Gainsbourg’s famous ‘La Javanaise’, which inspired him to refine his writing, playing with alliteration and euphony – that harmonious combination of words which today defines his writing style.

The turning point came in 2019 when one of his songs, ‘45 tours’, was performed by a young artist, Elle & Lui. To everyone’s surprise, the producers decided to keep his voice, transforming the song into an electro-pop duet that went on to enjoy great success on stations such as Virgin Radio and RTL 2. Alexis, who is discovering his talent as a singer, defines himself first and foremost as an author and lyricist. Among his influences is, of course, Gainsbourg, “but not Gainsbarre,” he clarifies. When it comes to songwriting, he admires the work of Benjamin Biolay, Christophe on the album *Aimer ce que nous sommes*, Daho on *Blitz*, not to mention Mylène Farmer, who has that elegant way of recounting life’s dramas and, in a single sentence, shifting from a smile to vertigo, from the light-hearted to the serious.
