ANTES & MADZES

Paris-Rodez, same veiled skies over the neighborhoods. Since their debut, rappers Antes & Madzes have been blasting the postcards of the provinces. Like Orelsan, stuck in Caen, the hip-hop duo dragged their sneakers and their boredom through the streets, wastelands and deserts of Aveyron, as they tell us ironically in their new single Bienvenue chez nous. An uncompromising “observation” on these cities, where “on Sunday afternoons, you can see ghosts / Deserted downtown, post-war decor / The old are armed, the young are precarious.” Antes & Madzes draw perspectives from an offbeat line: “You have the projectors, but we have the light”, they remind us.
