There was wind, snow and children wandering around the castle towers. It was Bellboy’s first project, *Opéra parties I & II*, which they presented in some of Paris’ most beautiful venues: at Le Zénith, opening for French 79, at L’Olympia alongside Kazy Lambist, and at La Salle Pleyel with the dance troupe La Marche Bleue.
The duo composes its songs in its small studio, surrounded by a few comic books, a collection of bells and a stack of DVDs. Lulled by the landscapes of Mœbius and the imaginary worlds of René Laloux, Bellboy weaves baroque pop with cinematic arrangements. Their music is a perpetual quest, a field of exploration where each piece becomes an experience. Inspired by the lyricism of François de Roubaix, the eclecticism of Ryūichi Sakamoto, the ethereal sensuality of Air, and the poetry of Brigitte Fontaine and Yves Simon, the duo cultivates an increasingly unique identity.
With this new project—a five-track mixtape—Bellboy once again opens the doors to their musical laboratory. We discover previously unexplored connections with David Bowie and MGMT on *Bellboy Blue*, compositions that are as baroque and luminous as ever on *Manille*, and a fully-fledged talent for hitmaking on *UFO (les hommes font n’importe quoi)*, featuring Yelle.
