DOTAN

Dotan has always used music as a form of expression, a method of revealing the feelings buried in the recesses of her mind. First with his debut album 7 Layers, which became a best-seller in the Netherlands and a success in Europe and North America, then in 2019 with the single ‘Numb’ and in 2021 with his album Satellites. He writes to discover himself and overcome the dark periods in his life, all the while achieving critical success and gold and platinum discs in many countries.

Dotan is now exploring a bolder pop sound. To write his next album, he took the time to travel and spend time with those closest to him, in order to find the creative spark that would launch him into his new musical era. Unlike his previous, darker work, his new songs are inspired by the light and music he listened to as a child with his father, including James Taylor, Neil Young and Cat Stevens.

His latest release, ‘Diamonds In My Chest’, marks a return to his roots, with a confident folk sound. Written on acoustic guitar during a road trip in the Californian desert, Dotan describes the song as “a journey to discover my true self”. His main sonic objective was to keep the music organic by using real instruments, played by real people, and to avoid programmed sounds.

This search is at the heart of Dotan’s next album, a folk-influenced record that recounts the happiest chapters of his life and looks to the future.
