Fabiana Palladino rose to prominence in 2017 as one of the founding artists of the Paul Institute, after her spectral R&B-influenced pop struck a chord with Jai Paul, who founded the label alongside his brother A.K. Paul. Releasing three singles in four years, she attracted critical attention – Pitchfork compared ‘Mystery’ to “a scratch track from a big-budget 80s studio that’s been smuggled onto tape” – but Palladino’s production remained light.
In the years since, she has worked as a session musician for the likes of Jessie Ware, while striving intensely for pop perfection in her own music. This year, she joined Jai Paul’s band for her first concert (which she also performed solo), one of the most eagerly awaited performances in years.
