Friedberg is an all-female band, formed by Austrian singer, guitarist and cowbell master Anna Friedberg. Their music, often described as a mix of post-punk and alt-rock sprinkled with haunting pop, is both familiar and completely new.
Formed in 2019, the band also features London and Berlin-based Emily Linden (guitar, vocals), Cheryl Pinero (bass, vocals) and Fifi Dewey (drums).
Friedberg’s initial success came from the hit single ‘Go Wild’, which featured on the FIFA 2020 soundtrack and in the BBC’s ‘Normal People’ series, as well as their brilliant debut EP Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah, a collection of hard-hitting tracks designed for the live stage.
The band have made waves in Europe with performances at Eurosonic, Open Air St. Gallen, Popfest Vienna and Haldern Pop, as well as touring the US and playing the Brixton Academy in support of Hot Chip, and recent gigs with Placebo, Giant Rooks and Big Special.
The single ‘The Greatest’ confirms Friedberg’s status as one of the band’s most triumphant releases. Anna Friedberg’s captivating vocals are as light as ever, while the drum and bass grooves keep the energy flowing. This song is made for festival season: for cool breezy car rides, summer parties and those endless road trips you never want to end. Friedberg’s latest album, Hardcore Workout Queen, was released on 8 November 2024 on the Clouds Hill label.
Support : Roma Luca
Roma Luca’s music is full of jolts. A former member of the group Ottis Cœur, her precise prose is underpinned by a sharp rock universe, demanding in its nuances, its drops and its breaks. The EP Invisible figure, due for release on 28 March, reveals all the shrewdness of this singer-songwriter who cultivates the experimental and alternative as much as French chanson. In this skilful interplay of tension between noise sounds, multiple textures and poetic clarity, Roma Luca has imposed a sovereign repertoire on the contemporary scene.
