Noise colors and lyrics of frank, political, almost distraught poetry. If Fishtalk first arrived on the indie scene weaving vaporous atmospheres, it now feeds them with noisy, electrifying textures – a sign of an artistic statement that is moving and deepening. Mathilde Gresselin’s ethereal voice explores darker facets, moving from spoken-word to visceral screams. Alongside Valentin Moncler (drums, vocals), Ismaël and Corentin Maretheu, they take to the stage without reserve, setting it up as the ultimate space for self-affirmation.

His music reflects his career, which in turn reflects his character. How would you describe Alias? First and foremost, as an industrious, prolific artist who manipulates sounds, genres and emotions to his heart’s content… and takes great pleasure in leading us through the musical edifice he has fashioned: A rock with a thousand layers, at times psychedelic, dance-punk, hip hop, danceable, hallucinatory… Coming from a jazz background, Emmanuel Alias first composed for TV series, then worked on productions for Cirque du Soleil, before releasing a handful of singles, an ep followed by a first concept album – Jozef, telling the story of a serial killer (you can’t make that up). And since his universe is as teeming as his ideas, Alias will be unveiling a second album this year.

Far from the trap house flourishing in today’s rap landscape, Maïcee stands apart and imposes her own style, original in every way: lyrics confidently distilled in clinical English, over ultra-powerful electronic productions.

The result is imperceptible: from autotuned vocals and over-the-top reverb (Fool) to pure pop (Honey Honey) and even futuristic productions, it’s impossible to put a label on Maïcee’s music. On her debut ep, I Think My Brain Is Weird, released just over a year ago, the artist uses her introspective lyrics rather than a gleaming, superficial egotrip to trace the contours of her identity, deliberately outside the norm.
