La Boule Noire et Vedettes | Première Partie : Les Mercuriales

Lewsberg from Rotterdam is a four-piece rock band named after the writer Robert Loesberg, famous for his novel Enige Defecten (1974). One of the band’s main sources of inspiration is the counter-culture and cynicism of the big cities of the 1960s and 1970s. However, Lewsberg’s music and lyrics also have a softer side. On their fourth album, Out And About, due out on 15 September, this side is more present than ever. The rudimentary pop and rock songs are deliberately stripped back, with the occasional violin or organ part. In the lyrics, the tendency towards existentialism and black humour is tempered by an almost naive openness and commitment. Lewsberg is made up of Shalita Dietrich (vocals, bass guitar), Michiel Klein (guitar), Marrit Meinema (vocals, drums) and Arie van Vliet (vocals, guitar, violin).
